Abstract

A compact microstrip line-fed ultra wide band (UWB) antenna is presented. The proposed antenna is fabricated onto an inexpensive GML 1000 substrate with an overall dimension of 30 X 32 mm2.The experiment shows that the proposed antenna achieves good impedance matching constant gain, stable radiation patterns over an operating bandwidth of 3.1 –10.7 GHz , which covers the entire UWB. The nearly stable radiation pattern with a maximum gain of 4.7 dBi makes the proposed antenna suitable for being used in UWB communication applications.
