Aluminium based metal matrix nano composites (AMMNCs) are a new generation of materials that have the potential of satisfying the recent demands of advanced engineering applications. Because of their excellent property of high strength to weight ratio, they are widely used in aerospace, aircrafts, automobile industries, structural applications and many other defence systems. Researchers have been observed that the addition of nano sized Al2O3 particles with aluminium metal matrix yields superior mechanical and physical properties and interfacial characteristics of nano composites. The Scanning electron microscope of the Al-MMNCs indicate that the reinforcing nanoparticles of Al2O3 are uniformly distributed in metal matrix. This paper attempts to review the fabrication methods and mechanical properties of Aluminium/Al2O3 based metal matrix nano composites
