Title

Optical Properties Fluoro borate glasses doped with praseodymium (Pr 3+)

Abstract

: Praseodymium doped Sodium Magnesium Zinc Fluoro Borate (NaMgZnFB) glasses with varied concentration were prepared by conventional melting procedure. Spectroscopic properties like Optical absorption, excitation, luminescence spectra and life time have been measured at room temperature. Pr3+ glasses has shown about seven absorption bands at 441, 467, 483, 586, and 1004, 1428, 1514 nm respectively. Which corresponds to transitions 3H4→3P2, 3P1, 3P0, 1D2,1G4, 3F4 and 3F3. Pr3+ glasses with an excitation at 413 nm 3H4 3P2, orange red emission at 609nm (1D2 3H4) and 642 nm (3P03F2) are observed. The decay curves have been plotted to evaluate their lifetimes and emission mechanism that arise in the glasses have been explained. Raman studies suggested that Pr6O11 could modify the properties of glass. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDS) gives the nature and composition of prepared glasses. These glasses are expected to give interesting application in the field of optics.
