Carnatic classical music is specialized for improvisations and creativity. Kalpana swara is one kind of improvisational music which requires many years of practice and cannot be learned easily. Synthesizing kalpana swara is an important area that requires some attention and gaining momentum in recent years. Alamkaara or decoration of musical notes is one of the core parts of carnatic classical music that is widely used during improvisations. Alamkaara is taught during basic lessons, but complex forms of alamkaara has to be institutionalized own their own. This paper presents an algorithm used for generating various types of alamkaara in carnatic classical, which are ultimately used in synthesizing kalpana swara.
