English Vinglish (2012) shows how Sridevi, with her firm belief, smashes stereotypes. As a woman-centric movie, it depicts the story of a hardworking mother, a supportive partner who is overburdened, disregarded, overshadowed, ostracized and taken for granted and how this woman faces all the hardships, evolves and finds her dignity and attains a new perspective of life. The story of the movie twirls around a few prominent themes like male chauvinism, women's concerns, predisposed patriarchy, sexism, the critical community and self-worth. And some other themes like equality and human rights, parenting and generation gap and ethnicity. A miscellany of all the issues a woman has to go through.
