Title

Performance and Emission Analysis of Single Cylinder Diesel Engine fuelled with Cerium Oxide Added Mango Seed Biodiesel

Abstract

The scarcity and increase in the crude oil prices have forced everyone to think on the use of biodiesel as an alternative fuel source. Also, it is important that unlike the traditional fuels which emit green house gases and particulate matter these alternate fuels safe guard environment. In the present work, approach to reduce the viscosity of the bio diesel and also to improve the calorific value of mango seed bio diesel cerium oxide has been used as a fuel additive. The mango seed biodiesel is prepared by the transesterification process and fuel blends of B10,B20,B30 with additives are prepared. The experiment was conducted in a single cylinder DI diesel engine. The optimum blend ratio of biodiesel fuel was identified that is B20 showing better performance than others. From the experimental investigation it is found that, viscosity has been reduced along with increase in calorific value when mixed with cerium oxide additive. The brake thermal efficiency slightly increased and emissions reduced for B20 additive fuel.
