Abstract

Micro-calcifications (µCas) are early indications of a malignant lesion: µCa detection and analysis of their spatial arrangement ensures basic diagnostic information. As µCa clustering suggests a tumor, the description of µCa distribution plays a major role in the design of a computational tool to help mammographic diagnosis. Micro-calcifications look like light tiny spots in a complex background and resemble a highly structured random field.
