Title

Securing Web Applications Using SNARE and Tanner Honeypot

Abstract

In today’s world there is a constant emergence in web attacks, thus there is huge requirement to secure every web application. One such mechanism is to use Intrusion Detection System, but this mechanism doesn’t work well against zero day attacks. This paper proposes a solution to secure web applications against zero day attacks by making use of honeypots along with Intrusion Detection Systems. Honeypots are bait systems which are used to lure attackers and based on their activities, rules are generated and are updated in Intrusion Detection Systems. This method is also cost effective since honeypot is hosted on Orange pi.
