Title

Design and Performance of a Vehicle Radiator Using GD Doped CeO2 and ZnO Nanofluids by CFD Analysis

Abstract

In the development of the many modern technology, the main challenge is thermal management. If we look towards automobile sector, the thermal management is the most difficult challenge. Nanofluids are suspension of Nano particles into the base fluid in different compositions. It helps to increase the heat transfer rate of various applications. The objective of this experimental study is to discuss the thermal performance of car radiator using Zinc Oxide (ZnO) and Gadnolinium doped ceria (Gd CeO2) nano fluid in temperature ranges from (40-80°C) in three different values and different fractions of nano particles from 0.5 and 1.0% (by volume). The heat transfer with water and ethylene glycol based nano fluids are experimentally compare to that of mixture of water and ethylene glycol as coolant in an automobile radiator. By varying the amount of ZnO and Gd CeO2 nano particles blended with base fluid, there different concentrations of nano fluid 0.5 and 1.0% obtain. The size of nano particle used is 30 nm (Nano meter). Liquid flow rate has been taken as 2 lpm (Liter per minute) and air velocity in the range of 3.5 m/s and 6.5 m/s. The design and simulation are done in SOLID WORKS, ANSYS R15.0. Finally compare with the base fluid results.
