Title

Adsorption of p-Hydroxy phenol (Hydroquinone or quinol) from aqueous solution on Granular Activated Carbon (F-300) in Batch and Continuous System

Abstract

In the present investigation the adsorption of p-Hydroxy phenol was studied in batch and continuous system. Experiments were carried to determine the effect of various physico-chemical parameters associated with adsorbent F300 and adsorbate p-Hydroxy phenol. The effect of bed height was also studied by applying Michael’s mass transfer zone MTZ concept. Results obtained were Qo x10 4 equal to 17.89, b equal to 7882 and ka min-1 and kd min-1 having values 128.2 and 0.01626 respectively. Adsorption equilibrium studies graph of Langmuir adsorption isotherm show typical type I favorable isotherm (linear). These data supports effective adsorption of p-Hydroxy phenol by GAC (F-300). GAC(F-300) can be used for removal hazardous chemicals from industrial waste water.
