ABSTRACT: Nowadays the accident rates are increasing day by day and there is a need of developing an accident prevention mechanism. The existing system in this field uses ultrasonic sensor in the front of the vehicle, which will detect the obstacle only in the forward direction. The proposed model will have ultrasonic sensors in front and right side of the vehicle and they detect the obstacles in turn gradually decrease the speed of the vehicle to prevent accident. It has the advantage of providing assistance for lane crossing by measuring the distance between the vehicles. It also includes the feature of identifying the drowsiness, alert the driver and thereby avoiding the occurrence of accident by using Open CV mechanism. The output is verified using Microcontroller and Open CV software.
