India is presently generating construction and demolition (C & D) waste to the tune of 23.75million tones annually and these figures are likely to double fold in the next 7 years. In general, present status of recycled aggregate in India along with its future need and its successful utilization are discussed here. This paper reports the basic properties of recycled course aggregate and normal course aggregate & also compares these properties with each other. Basic concrete properties like flakiness index , elongation index, crashing value test , impact value test , log Angeles abrasion test ,water absorption , are explained here for different combinations of recycled aggregate with natural aggregate the replacement of different constituents of concrete, one at a time was carried out by replacing these with the different sieved fractions of crushed demolition waste.
