Title

An Evaluation of Hyderabad Metro Corridor using Multi Criteria Evaluation

Authors

Abstract

Road network comprises of nodes, links, paths/ corridors that form the supply system. The parameters of road network have to be evaluated regularly for attaining a sustainable transport especially in urban fabric. The evaluation of the same hierarchical elements must lead to a fractal structure (similar structure at various scales) in an ideal case. An efficient supply system has similar behavioural characteristics throughout the system. A road which has been defined at a specified hierarchy should exhibit similar functional / behavioural attributes throughout. This is more prominent on the system integrated corridors / king corridors such as metro corridors, BRTS corridors / transit corridors in a city. There is no scientific approach for analysing and evaluating the behavioural / functional characteristics of such corridors at the network level. An attempt has been made in this study to analyse the behaviour of the metro corridor with respect to its functional attributes using fuzzy logic approach. The prioritisation of the metro stretch segments is made to understand the complexity of the corridor that enables in proper alignment of road corridors. The conceptualisation of functional attributes in evaluation and Micro level evaluation of the metro corridor with network level analysis are the new dimensions in this study. GIS has been used as a supporting tool in network characterisation and deriving network level functional data systems. A case study of part of metro corridors in Hyderabad city is considered for analysis.
