Title

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF NOZZLE JET DIA ON AISI 304

Abstract

Jet impingement cooling is one of the main heat transfer enhancement techniques due to its capabilities of producing high convective heat transfer rates. The heat transfer rate required for cooling the hot rolled steel strip by an impinging water jet is dependent on numerous factors and it also helps in determining the surface quality of the steel strip. The present work focuses on the impact of the jet nozzle diameter on the temperature distribution that will be formed on the AISI 340 steel strip. This work also presents the effect of the height of the nozzle jet on the cooling rate of the AISI 340 steel strip. From the experimental studies it is observed that nozzle jet of diameter 10mm is best suited for the cooling the hot rolled AISI 340 strip.
