Abstract Genre : Short story Title: Senorita Words : 3269 words Senorita ( chapter 1)starts with an imaginary dialogue between Senorita and a butterfly, where she tells how she came across her boy friend, Dexter. She met Dexter when she was studying in St. Stephen’s college and fell in love with him. In the next chapter, the story narrates how she moved to Canada for post-graduate studies. There she came across Morgan at Hermes University. The third chapter entitled’ Bistro Grill’ gives an intimate account of Senorita’s relationship with Dexter. Their conversation is suddenly interrupted by her hasty departure as Dexter became suspicious of her liaison with Morgan. In chapter 4, entitled ‘ Volte-face’, Senorita returns to her home in Gujarat after her studies had concluded in Canada. But she is informed by her father that Dexter had expired. In chapter five, called ‘ The Sequel’, Senorita has an imaginary encounter with the butterfly, where she describes her dejection. Finally, there is a suggestion that the butterfly might be an incarnation of Dexter in after-life. Subhrajit Samanta (c)
