Autunomy has its etymological rutes in the greek word for self and rule of law .Thus ajtunomy literary mean self rule or independence .Thus the grammaticallyeani g of the term autunomy is the right to self government or freedom of self rule. Bjt in a Federalism set up state autunomy does not mean the indelendence of soverenenity of the state .It indicate two aspects negative and positive .Negative means non interferance of the centre in the precribed domain of the state .Positive means the right of the state tl work indelendetly in the presecribed area . Thus autonumy has assumed the charater of the state rights which has been the bone of fedral system .
