Abstract

A large part of reclaimed wetland in the Eastern fringe of Kolkata is being used for maize farming. Fertilizers are frequently being added to the soil by maize growers in order to obtain better yield as well as to improve the soil quality in many cases. In this study, effect of supplementation of urea and neem fertilizer in wetland soil on zinc uptake by maize leaves and grains were investigated, as maize is one of the staple crops consumed by all irrespective of economic standards in our country and also throughout the world.
