Abstract Most of the economies of the world are mutual interdependence and it is hard to find the example of a closed economy. All economies of the world have become open. But the degree of openness varies from one country to another. In the modern world, no country is completely self-sufficient which means the proportion of the goods and services consumed to their total output produced with in a country. Foreign trade is the equally important for the trading countries which play an important role of the regional and international specialization. Trade is essentially an international transformation of commodities, inputs and technology which promotes welfare in two ways. It extends the market of a country’s output beyond national frontiers and may ensure better prices through trades. Thus, foreign trade is a significant driving force for the engine of economic growth. The main aim of current paper titled “India’s foreign trade with ASEAN: An overview” is to analyse the growth rate and trend of India's export and import with ASEAN countries and to analyse commodity composition of India-ASEAN trade. The percentage method has been applied to analysis the data.
