Abstract: Respiratory diseases are one of the leading cause of morbidity all over the world. Many classical formulations are enlisted in Ayurveda texts for curing respiratory ailments. Thaleesapathradi choornam is such a a formulation which has the functions of swasahara, kasahara, ruchya, deepana, chardihara, pleehasoolaghna, hritsoolaghna, parswasoolaghna, pandu hara, jwaraghna, athisaraghna, and moodavata anulomana. A detailed literary review has been conducted to explore the probable mode of action of Thaleesapathradi choornam in swasa roga. Most of the ingredients contain bioactive compounds like flavonoids, tannins, phenols, saponins, sterols, terpenes, quinones, glycosides and alkaloids. These are having anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune modulator properties which may work on bronchial asthma which is the result of chronic inflammatory response in aurways. Also katu-thikta rasa, laghu,-ruksha guna, and swasahara karma of the ingredients may do samprapthi vighatana of swasa roga.
