Abstract
This article is written principally on the basis of interviews with the Kurumbar of Attappadi and the Kurumbar are remarkable for the degree to which they adhere to old ways of living. The hamlets of most of this tribal people are situated in inaccessible forest regions which helped them to resist external contacts and to lead an isolated life according to ‘the way of ancestors.
