Title

Aeromycological Studies over Some Groundnut Fields in Nashik District of Maharashtra, India

Authors

Abstract

The groundnut crop (Arachis hypogea L.) is most important oil seed crop of Maharashtra in India. It is cultivated in Kharif as well as Rabbi Season. The plant is most important nitrogen fixing legume crop with symbiotic bacteria on roots for increasing fertility of the soil. The SB-11 bunchy verity of groundnut was selected for aerobiological study and the site selected was private field of Makarandwadi of Deola Tahasil in Nashik district from Maharashtra. To study role of pathogenic fungal airspora and occurance of disease the present survey was carried out over groundnut fields. The crop was grown in 1.62 hector area. The Present aerobiological investigation was carried out by using a device Tilak Air sampler. Continuous air monitoring operation was done for 112 days during the months of June, July, August and September of Kharif Season during the year 2014. Air contains number of different particles suspended in it. Fungal spores, pollen grains, viruses, bacteria, dust particles, insect parts etc. Airborne catches trapped over the groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.) field includes 45 fungal spores, hyphal fragments, insect parts, pollen grains etc. The definite correlation between the air borne microorganisms, meteorological parameters, growth stages of the crop plants and their impact in bringing about the disease incidence to the ground nut crop plants. A volumetric Tilak Air Sampler was used to trap airborne biological components, which incidentally provided continuous quantitative and qualitative data.
