Title

ENHANCING GENETIC GAIN THROUGH GENOMIC SELECTION IN CROP PLANTS

Abstract

Coventional plant breeding plans depend on morphological data information and these quantitative traits are intensively evaluated in various environments condition. In the MAS uses the genetic markers in linkage disequilibrium (LD) with quantitative traits loci. Genomic Selection is a novel approach to boost polygenic characteristics in large populations, where we use genome-wide markers, this is only possible through to high throughput genotyping platform. In genomic predication, the marker data and the phenotypic and ancestral data are combined in an attempt to improve the precision of breeding prediction and genotypic values. For polygenic characters, selection based on major and minor marker effects alone has histrionically transformed ordinary practices, which were used in plant and animal breeding programme. In community, plant breeding programs, the advantages of GS have only been studied through separate program separate program of computer program. Meanwhile, Technology of Marker is endlessly dropping the Price per data point, even per unit time, and increasing the number of usable genetic markers, genotyping is actually not as costly as phenotyping costs in the plant breeding system applied. So, GS is an effective and efficient tool for enhancing the genetic gain through to increasing the genomic estimated breeding value (GEBV).
