Title

Removal of a triarylmethane dye by an isolated bacteria

Abstract

Bioremediation is getting more attention now a days due to its eco-friendly nature and easy to use methods. Synthetics dyes are being used for their cheap price and easy availability. However, their presence polluting the environment disturbing ecological balances by disturbing flora and fauna. The present study deals with removal of a tritriarylmethane dye by an isolated organism. Different physico-chemical properties like initial pH, initial temperature, RPM, inoculum percentage, carbon source, nitrogen source etc. have been optimized as they effect dye removal efficacy greatly. The study revealed that about 71% removal was obtained at initial malachite green concentration of 15mg/l, initial pH 7.2.0, inoculum percentage of 2.5%(v/v) and extra N source of 0.55% (w/v). The data obtained in this result shall be further analysed by statistical methods which may enhance the chance of usage of this technology in large scale or contaminated field sites. Furthermore the bioremediation shall encourage the use of natural colours originated from biological origin.
