The aim of this study was to identify physical and physiological variables that discriminate among groups of male athletes aged between 21-25 years from football and basketball (n=10) each into football and basketball sport. The physical and physiological variables included Leg Strength, Sprinting Speed, Back Flexibility, Agility, Vital Capacity, Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure, Respiratory Rate and Breath Holding. Discriminant functions revealed two significant functions (p<0.05) i.e. agility and breath holding capacity, which primarily represented differences between football and basketball. After validation, the analysis showed that 95% of athletes were correctly categorised in their respective sports. The model shows 66.9% robustness, which explains the variability among the groups.
