Title

Health Monitoring of Ships using Power Line Communication

Abstract

To maintain the reliability and operational continuity of a ship, even in the adverse conditions, it is necessary to continuously monitor a wide range of parameters. In this process of monitoring, another herculean task is to regularly transmit the information to the control center and then initiate a suitable action if in the case of an emergency. In this paper, an experimental setup is developed to integrate the multiple sensors in the monitoring units with the control center using power line communication. Compared to other communication technologies, PLC has the advantage of avoiding extra communication cables and thus reducing the weight of the ship
