Medical billing in hospitals can be done for Inpatient, Day Care and Outpatient. A lengthy and inefficient patient billing process from hospital is an essential component that needs to be addressed inorder to improve the quality of healthcare facility. In a healthcare facility, one of the biggest challenges apart from patient’s care is mostly about medical billing and patient checkout process. The total quality of the service is being determined by this major factor. To minimize the financial losses caused by the billing errors and to minimize variability in the work process and to improve patients’ satisfaction, the DMAIC strategy is being used as a fundamental tool for quality/ process improvement in Six sigma approach for this study. The main objectives of the study are to observe the current Billing processes and to improve and redesign the Billing process using Six-Sigma approach.
