Title

Infrastructure and Resource Inadequacy in Government-Aided Ashram Schools: A Continuing Barrier to Inclusive Education – A Study from Satara District

Abstract

Abstract Government-aided Ashram schools are a critical vehicle for educational inclusion among De-notified and Nomadic Tribes (DNTs) in Maharashtra. This paper investigates four such schools in Satara district to evaluate the extent and impact of infrastructure and resource inadequacy. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study incorporates infrastructure audits, interviews, and case studies. The findings reveal serious deficiencies such as inadequate sanitation, outdated learning materials, and unutilized government funds hindering the realization of inclusive, quality education. The paper argues for urgent systemic reforms in planning, fund utilization, and community participation to bridge these long-standing educational gaps.
