Authors

Abstract

Introduction As we all know, from ancient times women played very significant role in the society whether as leaders, entrepreneurs, housekeepers etc. In Indian culture women are considered as goddess. The Indian women are no longer treated as showpiece to be kept at home. They are also enjoying the impact of globalization and making an influence not only on domestic but also on international sphere. 1. Women Entrepreneurship Women Entrepreneurs may be defined as the women or group of women who initiate, organise and co-operate a business enterprise. Government of India has defined women entrepreneur as an enterprise owned and controlled by a woman having a minimum financial interest of 51% of the capital and giving atleast 51% of employment generated in the enterprise to women. 2. State of women in India Women in India are doing very well as business leaders and entrepreneurs despite many obstacles such as mindset of the society, limited participation in decision making, limited social interaction. An increasing number of startups and new businesses have been founded over the last decade, the majority of them by men. While many Indian women have entrepreneurial ambitions, it is often more difficult for them to succeed. In fact, India comes under the group of nations where women business owners struggle with less favorable conditions, pronounced cultural biases and scares resources such as capital, finance, training and development. 3. Suggestion By following the few steps the role of women in business world can be improved : • By changing the social interaction process. • Providing freedom in decision making process. • Providing education and employment to women. • By changing mindset. 4. Conclusion The need of the hour is to identify those drawbacks like employment, education, social status, and mind set of people in order to empower women in India.
