Blockchain technology works on the distributed ledger pattern wherein the peers’ follow-up the chaining approach to maintain a cryptographic hash; mostly considered for cryptocurrencies it has various other applications in terms of supply chain management, smart contracts, decentralized systems and many more. As of the advancement in the field of science, working remotely has now become a trend to maintain the redundancy and privacy of the system; thus the diversified applications of Blockchain technology make it simple and worth it. It can add-on to the IoT sections with the mapping of various devices within a decentralized network. An overview of the blockchain can open-up varied perspectives and increase its future scope in terms of implementation. The purpose of this research is to understand the blockchain technology, its applications, and challenges faced on getting it functional.
