Title

Readiness for Online Teaching

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the Readiness for Online Teaching among the teachers working in Colleges. About 4913 Samples belonging to different disciplines from various parts of the country answered when the Google form was floated in various Social Media Platforms. 3707 Assistant Professors, 557 Associate Professors, 239 Professors, 362 lecturers and 54 Librarians participated. Readiness for Online Teaching (ROT) constructed by Saileela.K, were used to collect the data. The questionnaire consists of 15 statements and was designed with dichotomous answering options: ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. Scoring Procedure was for positive statements, Yes is one and for No is Zero. And for negative statements the vice-versa. The data were analyzed using the statistical techniques like Percentile analysis, Mean, Standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA. Teachers of Medicine, ROT is greater than others teachers those who belong to Arts, Science, Engineering, Education, Management, Commerce and LIS. Teachers those who have less than 5 years of experience and above 21 years have ROT less than others who have above 5 to 20 years of experience. This study reveals that college teachers, Readiness for Online teaching is high (Mean: 13.82), suitable atmosphere has to be created to equip them with necessary digital skills for Online teaching.
