A rapid,highly sensitive high performance liquid chromatography method has been developed for the determination of safinamide mesylate in bulk drug and in tablets. Safinamide mesylate was eluted from a Neosphere RP C 18 reversed phase column with a mobile phase consisting of methanol and water (80:20v/v) at a flow rate of 1ml/min with UV detection at 226nm.The retention time for safinamide mesylate was 5.2 min. Also an simple and precise high- performance thin layer chromatographic method has been developed and validated for estimation of safinamide mesylate as bulk and in tablet dosage form. The chromatographic development was carried out on phase. Detection was carried out densitometrically at 226nm. The RF value of drug was found to be 0.54+-0.02. By all the information and data from the two method it can be Said that the drug safinamide mesylate can be estimated by both RP - HPLC and HPLC. but to know the accurate method and results of the two methods it should be verified for its full process. In this article one can easily determine the accurate method for the determination of drug safinamide mesylate in both bulk and tablet dosage form.
