Title

Effects of Strategic Intervention on Developing Competencies of the Learners in Social Science

Abstract

This study deals on the State and District Report Card which gives a holistic view of the achievement level of the learners in Social Science. The researcher tried his best to improve the achievement level of the learners in the identified competencies in which the learners showed poor performance. In order to increase their actual level, the researcher selected a class with 40 numbers of students who had very poor performance in Social Science specifically Political Science. The investigator decided to take up a study entitled as "Effects of Strategic Intervention on Developing Competencies of the Learners in Social Science”. This study was carried with three specific objectives like to identify the low performing schools in social science according to district report card, to locate specific competencies in which their performance was below 40% and to evolve strategies to improve the achievement level of the learners in identified competencies. Data was collected using the tools like achievement test through pre-test and post-test procedure. The intervention period was one month. The post-test result was better than Pre-test. It proved that strategies like remedial package and techniques had positive effect to improve the achievement level of the learners.
