Diversity is the only key factor behind existence and maintenance of ecosystem, where every organism plays is role to make it successful, so that species richness is important for the sustainability and keeping a balanced environment, which can be utilized by the living beings for their betterment. Out of all the living beings Specifically Insects (Invertebrates) are very much essential because of their multitasking nature. As pollinators Insects are very much essential for the maintenance of biodiversity for which these are utilized as good indictors of a healthy biodiversity. Our study site Jaydev vatika is an extension of Khandagiri cave which is situated at one of the busiest cities, is a pollution prone region. The study was undertaken to assess the species richness which will ultimately give us clue about that particular environmental condition. After evaluating statistically it was concluded that this place is a healthy resident of 21 different species of butterfly. Most of them are distributed equally which describes about the evenness of species which is another good indicator of any healthy environment stated by Shannon – Weiner’s diversity index.
