Title

Synthesis and Characterizations of Cadmium Sulfide Thin Films by Chemical Bath Deposition Method

Abstract

Cadmium sulphide (CdS) is a wide energy gap semiconductor has an important material due to its applications in photo detectors, multilayer light emitting diodes, thin film field effect transistors and conducting semiconductor for optoelectronic devices. In this work we report synthesis, structural and electrical characterization of CdS thin films deposited on silicon (Si) substrate. The thin films were deposited using chemical bath deposition(CBD) method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that the prepared samples are polycrystalline with cubic structure. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that the grains are more uniformly distributed over the surface of the silicon substrate for the CdS films. Absorbance spectral study provided by UV-visible spectroscopy gives an absorbance as a nature of band gap of semiconductor nanomaterial and the value of band gap and particle size. The CdS nanoparticles were characterized by FTIR. The FTIR spectra could be explained by different peaks obtained by the various sample. Electrical conductivity of CdS thin films measurements are carried out.
