Abstract Introduction Diabetes is on its peak of incidence in worldwide; and it is very important for one identified with diabetic to understand the life-style modification and different control strategies. Yoga has been proved to be effective in managing persistent illnesses like hyper glycaemia, hypertension, hormonal imbalance and many more. It is vital to understand the level of knowledge about yoga therapy among diabetic affected person and to recognize their mind set of practicing yoga. Yoga has been diagnosed as gaining momentum in human being and as a powerful life-style management strategy. Methods This study was aimed to assess the knowledge of diabetic patients towards yoga therapy as a life style management. The study design used was cross sectional research design and sampling technique was convenient sampling. Data collected from 180 diabetic patients attended medicine outpatient department of JIPMER, after informed consent and ethical committee approval. A validated structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Results The results of the study showed that 36.1% of diabetic patients are having poor knowledge, 47.2% having moderate knowledge, 16.7% having good knowledge. The study analysis further showed that there was a significant relation between level of knowledge and nature of job, according to p value (<0.05) but there was no significant association between knowledge with any other demographic variables.
