Cassia tora is a small shrub budding as weed in Asian and African countries. These plat are edible leafy vegetable taken up by Asians. Cassia tora L. is one of the well-known anthraquinone containing plant and has been used in Chinese, Ayurvedic medicine. From time immemorial, different parts of Cassia tora have found application in Indian and Chinese medicine. It is various useful medicinal effects are well documented in the many publications. In these present review, an attempt has been made to explore a literature survey on its traditional uses, phytochemical studies, pharmacological properties. The whole plant such as some plant parts roots, leaves and seeds have been widely used and claimed against different diseases by rural and traditional facilators of Satana region of Maharashtra. Cassia tora plant has great contribution in the modern system of the herbal medicines for new drug development.
