Title

A RANDOMIZED DOUBLE BLIND CLINICAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF PRASARINI TAILA WITH MURCHITA AILA, GREEVA BASTI IN VISHWACHI W.S.R TO CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS(CTRI/2021/04/032654)

Abstract

The disease vishwachi in modern parlance having similarity with the disease cervical spondylosis which has emerged in current scenario as a common life style disease found in middle aged group people. There are different sets of diseases which are explained under vatavyadhi.1 Amongst them the disease vishwachi is included under shoolapradhana vatavyadhi. If the patient complains of severe pain and incapable of performing routine activities then such persons will be disturbed from the social and professional life. The prevalence of cervical spondylosis was 13.76%, although it differed significantly amongst the urban, suburban & rural populations (13.07%, 15.97%, and 12.25% respectively)2. Moreover, it was higher in females than in males (16.51%vs10.49). The highest prevalence was in the age group from 45 to 60 years old. As a part of treatment modality, vatavyadhi chikitsa initially starts with snehana and swedana. This can be achieved in the form of bahya and abhyantara snehana also. Snigdha swedana is the treatment of choice in niramavastha of vatavyadhi. Owing to the niramavastha attained in the patients of vishwachi snigdha swedana is selected in the form of greeva basti. In this procedure, a ring prepared out of black gram dough is fixed on the nape of the neck and the oil is kept for stipulated period of time inside the ring which is placed on the affected area. As greeva basti is considered to be one of the bahyasnehana and swedana procedure which can tackle aggravated vatadosha and hence the best possible and easily available taila like murchita tila taila3 is selected to perform the greevabasti. Also, to compare the efficacy of murchita tila taila, prasarini taila4 which is explained in vatavyadhi adhikara was selected for this study.
