Jungermannia (Solenostoma) lanigera Mitt. Was first reported by Mitten (1861) from Sikkim Himalayas and later by Amakawa (1963) from Central Nepal. The occurrence of the species has been reported from Eastern Himalayas, Western Himalayas, Sikkim, Nepal, Burphu near Milan Glacier, Uttar Pradesh, Valley of flowers. The species belong to the section Desmorhiza of Subgenus Solenostoma. A comparative study of specimen from foreign herbarium is also given in the present account. Plants are olive green & brown, Rhizoids long decurrent along the stem forming a distinct fascicle also present on leaves and Perianth, leaves orbicular-reniform, Plants dioecious male inflorescence terminal bracts generally 6 pairs, Perianth oblong and terminal.
