Title

Jungermannia (Solenostoma) Limbatifolia Amak. – An Endemic species to India By: Dr. Panzy Singh

Abstract

A Complete Study of Jungermannia (Solenostoma) Limbatifolia Amak. From Darjeeling area is done in the present amount. The species was firstly reported by Amakawa (1968) from Darjeeling. A complete study of vegetative and reproductive structure were done by Singh, P (1991) with the observations and examination from Darjeeling and nearby localities. Collections were made by Lucknow University Bryology Laboratory in the year 1978. The species is endemic to India and restricted to West Bengal & Darjeeling. It belongs to section Desmorhiza of subgenus Solenostoma. Plants 12-14 mm long, yellowish brown, rhizoids decurrent forming a distinct fascicle, leaves obliquely ovate, obliquely inserted. It is only species of the section Desmorhiza in which the leaves are bordered by a row of long and thick walled cells. Plants are dioecious.
