Human welfare is a multi-dimensional concept. It is concerned with socio-economic dimensions of human development with a broad focus on basic human needs, economic needs, environmental needs and subjective happiness. Livelihood opportunity of the people comprises an important part of human well-being. Livelihood comprises the capabilities, assets and activities required for a means of living. The basic objective of development is to improve the quality of life and to enlarge the choices of people. It is a well-established fact that secured livelihood positively affects the quality of life, as the world never realises peace unless people have security in life. Education and Good health is the key to happy and productive life. Existence or the availability of conditions required for 'health for all in a society ensures economic progress. The present research paper reveals the socio-economic development of district Reasi, (Jammu and Kashmir). The present study analyses unique features of different demographic aspects of Reasi such as different housing types, population variation, sex ratio, literacy rate, occupation, annual income etc.
