A descriptive study to assess the knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease among patients in selected hospitals of Moga, Punjab.The purpose of present study was to assess and improve the knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease among patients in selected hospitals of Moga, Punjab.The objectives were to assess the knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease among patients in selected hospitals of Moga, Punjab, To find out the relationship of knowledge score between selected demographic variables such as (age in years), gender, educational status of patient, type of family, family monthly income, occupation of patient, dietary pattern, marital status, area of residence and source of information and to developed and distributed an information booklet for patients regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Review of literature will be categorized under the following heading literature related to prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, literature related to risk factors of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and literature related to knowledge and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study was conducted in Aastha Hospital and Delhi heart institute & multispecialty hospital Moga, Punjab. The target population for the study was patients who were attending outpatient department in the hospital. Patients were selected by purposive sampling method of probability sampling technique. Sample sizes were 200 patients. The major finding maximum of 74% patients had average knowledge score followed by 21% patients had good knowledge and minimum 5% patients had below average knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease among patients. In the demographic variables age (in years), educational status of patient and family monthly income had significant p<0.001, p<0.05and p<0.01 level and impact on the knowledge score of patient on knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
