Title

COMPOSITION AND ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF VOLATILES FROM LIMNOPHILA REPENS BENTH.

Abstract

Essential oil from the aquatic weed Limnophila repens was obtained by hydrodistillation and analysed by GC/MS and olfactometry. The major compounds obtained were of terpinen-4-ol followed by sabinene, terpinolene, oct-1-en-3-ol, trans-β-farnesene, and γ-terpinene. The antifungal activity of the oil against three plant pathogens Pythium aphanidermatum, Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum was evaluated under in vitro conditions.
