ULRASONIC SENSOR BASED AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF POTHOLES AND HUMPS AND SECURITY ENHANCEMENT

Abstract

Road upkeep is one of the biggest issues in developing nations. The economy of the nation is significantly boosted by well-maintained roadways. Finding pavement problems like potholes and humps not only helps drivers avoid collisions or car damage, but it also aids in road maintenance. In order to identify potholes and speed humps on roads and inform drivers in a timely manner so they can avoid collisions or vehicle damage, this paper analyzes the many pothole detection techniques that have previously been developed. It also suggests a practical solution that is affordable. The potholes and humps are located using ultrasonic sensors, which are also utilized to determine the depth and height of each. Using a global positioning system receiver, the suggested system records the coordinates of the potholes and humps' exact location. The sensed data is recorded in the database (cloud) and contains the depth of the pothole, the height of the hump, and the position. This is a useful source of information for both government officials and motorists. Drivers are alerted via an Android app so that preventative actions can be done to prevent accidents. In order to provide a vehicle with security, alerts are presented as flashing messages with an audible beep.
