Title

A STUDY OF IT UP-SKILLING PROCESS OF EMPLOYEES IN THE INDIAN FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTOR AND ITS IMPACT ON FIRM VALUE

Abstract

This study investigates the process of IT up-skilling among employees in the Indian financial services sector and its influence on firm value. In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, financial institutions face the challenge of adapting to technological advancements and maintaining competitiveness. Recognizing the significance of IT skills in leveraging technology effectively, organizations have increasingly focused on enhancing their employees' IT competencies. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this research combines qualitative interviews with industry experts and quantitative analysis of financial data from a sample of Indian financial services firms. The qualitative phase explores the strategies, initiatives, and best practices employed by organizations to up-skill their employees in IT-related areas. It delves into the various training programs, mentoring, and resources provided to enhance employees' IT capabilities and enable them to adapt to technological changes. The quantitative analysis evaluates the impact of IT up-skilling on firm value using financial performance indicators such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and market value. By comparing the financial performance of firms with robust IT up-skilling processes to those without such initiatives, this study aims to establish the relationship between employee up-skilling and firm value. The findings contribute to understanding the role of IT up-skilling in the Indian financial services sector and its impact on firm value. They provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of different IT up-skilling strategies and their influence on financial performance. This research is particularly beneficial for financial institutions aiming to enhance their IT capabilities and strengthen their competitive positioning in the digital age. Additionally, policymakers and regulators can gain insights into the importance of promoting IT up-skilling initiatives to foster growth and innovation in the financial services sector.
