Abstract

The word Ksharsutra comprises of two words i.e., Kshar which means a special medicine that is alkaline in nature and is derived from the ashes of certain plants like Apamarga (achyranthes aspera) Yava (barley), etc. and Sutra means a thread. So Ksharsutra is a specialized medicated thread.
