Abstract

Summary A research focused on the study of some factors of deforestation in the town of Kindu, capital of the province of Maniema and its surroundings in the villages NYOKA, 16km in the Kalima road axis, in the villages KATALAMA, KASENGA in the The Kasongo road axis, to the KAMPONGA, KISEKE villages upstream of the Congo River and to the LONO, LOPOKELE villages downstream of the Congo River was carried out. The objectives of this study were to understand the destructive activities of the forest and to inform stakeholders about the concept of sustainable forest management.After analysis, the results obtained showed that: The population of the town of Kindu, capital of the province of Maniema, and its surroundings carries out a variety of forest-destroying activities, the most salient of which were: Agricultural characteristics (shifting agriculture), with an average area of 1.5 ha per growing season in all axes ; The exploitation of timber, clearing small-scale sawing of an average of 0.00525 ha at the time of sawing ; Exploitation of energy wood 0.00375 ha cleared at the time of the tree felling activity (cooking wood, bricks, charcoal). These three anthropogenic activities mentioned above are major predominant activities of deforestation in the town of Kindu, capital of the province of Maniema and in the Wasongola sector, territory of Kailo, in addition to the activities caused by natural disasters. which we have not studied.
