Title

GRID-INTEGRATED VARIABLE SPEED WIND TURBINE SYSTEM USING PMSG AND BATTERY STORAGE WITH FFT ANALYSIS

Abstract

Wind turbine technology has advanced, and gearless systems are becoming popular due to their improved reliability, reduced maintenance, and lower costs, especially for offshore applications. Traditional wind turbines with gearboxes face high maintenance challenges due to heavy loads and harsh conditions. This study explores a gearless variable-speed wind turbine using a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) and integrates battery storage for better energy management. A model is developed and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink to evaluate its performance under varying wind speeds. Results show that battery storage helps maintain stable power output, enhancing reliability and efficiency. This research provides insights into modelling and analysing gearless wind turbines with PMSG, focusing on energy storage and load management.
