Title

PHYTODIVERSITY OF MACROPHYTES IN RIVER MANDAKINI

Abstract

The research article is majorly concerned on the microphyte diversity in river Mandakini. During the investigation 19 macrophytic species were identified in river Mandakini. The diversification of macrophytes is more visible in Mandakini River that affect the ecosystem of waterbody. They also act as pollution indicator macrophytes occur in water bodies either along the river bank or submerged. The cause of variation in macrophytes of variations in topography, soil condition, floral feature, and human influences. In this study random quadrat method used to analyse characteristics of macrophytes. Aquatic macrophytes are commonly distributed according to water depth, with emergent plants found in shallow areas, floating-leaved plants occupying moderately deep regions, and submerged plants thriving in deeper waters. Additionally, free-floating macrophytes are found on or just below the water surface, drifting independently of the substrate. Among various ecological groups, submerged macrophytes with 8 species showed qualitative dominance over free floating (04 species) and rooted floating (07 species).
