Holistic Approaches to Oral Lichen Planus: Insights from Ayurvedic Treatment
Abstract
Oral Lichen Planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the oral mucosa, characterized by symptoms such as burning sensation, pain, and difficulty in taste. This case study explores the Ayurvedic management of OLP in a patient who reported intolerance to spicy foods and experienced significant discomfort. The treatment regimen consisted of Triphala Kwath for gargling, Drakshadi Kashaayam administered orally thrice daily, Guduchi Ghanwati taken twice daily, and local application of Tiphala Ghritum. Over a treatment duration of three months, the patient exhibited notable improvement in symptoms, highlighting the efficacy of Ayurvedic approaches in managing OLP.
