Human resources are the most important assets of an organisation . An organisation will succeed only when the human resources are managed effectively. Also, the emergence of service organisations has further increased the demand of highly efficient employees with great interpersonal ability and technical skills. Quality of Work life (QWL) is an approach which tries to integrate the needs and desires of employees with the organisation structure. This has great influence in determining the overall satisfaction and performance of employees in an organisation. Banks are the most important institutions in the financial service sector and work in present day banks involves great stress and pressure. Only a proper QWL can help employees give the best results to the organisation. It is also important to make a comparison between QWL aspects of public and private sector banks and find out the level of satisfaction of employees regarding various aspects of QWL.
